About
Built by an estimator, not a software vendor
Architrave was built by a career estimator with 25+ years in commercial construction, from journeyman carpenter to contractor owner to estimator.
Field first
It started in the field. Years of carrying tools, reading drawings at the point where mistakes turn into rework, and learning what a missed scope item really costs when it shows up on site instead of on paper.
Then the whole business
After that came running a crew and a P&L as a contractor owner. Bidding the work, buying it, building it and living with the margin. That's where you learn the difference between a number that wins and a number that makes money, and what it feels like when a bid goes out with a hole in it.
Estimating at the core
Estimating commercial work is still the heart of it. The same deadlines, late sub numbers, last-minute addenda and midnight spreadsheet edits your team deals with are the problems Architrave is built around.
Why we build tools
Somewhere along the way, it became obvious that the biggest risks on bid day aren't the hard judgment calls. They're the things nobody had time to read: the exclusion buried in a proposal, the quantity that didn't make it from the takeoff, the scope item carried twice. So we started building the tools we wished we'd had. Checks that read everything, every time, and hand the estimator a short list of what matters.
That became a growing in-house toolkit, and Architrave is how we bring it to other GCs and subs.
What we believe
- The estimator makes the call. Our tools flag and explain. They don't decide.
- Plain code first, AI where it earns its place. Most of the work is deterministic code you can check. AI handles the reading, on local models whenever the text is sensitive.
- Your data stays yours. Raw files never touch public AI.
- You should own what you pay for. Tools we build are yours to keep and run. No subscription to get your own work back.
- No hype. If a tool won't save your team real time or real money, we'll say so.
How we work
We serve GCs and subs nationwide and work remote-first. Audits, leveling and scorecards happen entirely remotely. Custom builds and on-premises setups are on-site or hybrid, wherever you are.
The estimator still makes every call. We just make sure nothing goes unread.
