Fractional Precon-Tech Advisor

Monthly hours for tool upkeep, new pipelines and a standing call. The precon-tech help you'd hire full-time if you could, at a fraction of the cost.

  • From $2,000 per month
  • Ongoing
  • Remote, with on-site visits as needed

Who it's for

  • Companies that have had custom tools built and want them kept running as templates, software and people change.
  • Precon teams that keep finding new manual steps worth automating.
  • Owners who want someone who understands both estimating and AI to call when questions come up, without adding a full-time hire.

The problem

Tools break when the inputs change. A new estimate template, a software update or a different drawing format, and the thing your team relied on stops working. Meanwhile, new requests pile up, AI tools change every few months, and there's nobody in-house who speaks both precon and tech.

Hiring for that role full-time is expensive and hard to fill. Most companies don't need a full-time person for it. They need someone reliable on call.

What's included

  • A block of monthly hours for tool upkeep, fixes and small improvements.
  • New pipelines and tools built from those hours as needs come up.
  • A standing call with your precon lead to review what's working, what's next and what's changed in AI that's worth your attention.
  • Policy upkeep. Your AI use policy and cloud-vs-local data rules updated as your tools and team change.
  • Priority on audits and leveling when bid day gets busy.

What you get

  • Tools that keep working.
  • A steady pipeline of new automation, prioritized by what saves your team the most time.
  • A practitioner to ask before you buy software, sign up for an AI tool or change how your team handles data.

Timeline

Month to month. Hours start the month you sign up, and the standing call is set on a schedule that works for your team.

Pricing

From $2,000 per month. The monthly rate moves with:

  • How many hours you need each month.
  • How many tools we're maintaining, and how complex they are.
  • How fast you want new builds delivered.
  • On-site visits, which are billed with travel at cost.

FAQs

Do we need to have done a Custom Tools build first?

No, though most advisor clients start there. We can also take over upkeep of tools you already have.

What happens to unused hours?

We'll agree on that up front. Our aim is that you use what you pay for, so we'll suggest work worth doing if a month runs light.

Is there a long-term contract?

No. It's month to month. If it stops being useful, you stop paying for it.

What if a month needs more hours than our plan?

We'll tell you before going over and quote the extra time, or roll it into next month's plan.

The estimator still makes every call. We just make sure nothing goes unread.
